Built as a house, run as a care home

The Mirpur home occupies a converted four-storey residence, which is why it feels like a home rather than a clinic. Assisted living occupies the first two floors, with the secured memory care unit above it and the nursing station in between, so no resident is more than one flight from clinical help.

Meals are cooked on site by a dietitian-supervised kitchen — rice, fish, daal and seasonal vegetables, with diabetic and renal variants prepared separately. Residents eat together in the dining room unless they prefer their room.

Staffing on any given day

• Home manager and one nurse manager on the day shift
• Registered nurse on site 24 hours, three shifts
• Caregivers at 1:8 in assisted living, 1:4 in memory care
• Geriatrician twice weekly, on call at all other times
• Physiotherapist five days a week
• Clinical psychologist weekly, plus family sessions on request
